I think the sophomore album is the most difficult. The band has had however long they need to craft the perfect first album. Songs were cut and they ended up with, what they thought, the perfect collection of songs. Then they receive huge acclaim and are expected to push an album out in two years with no time for creativity or reflection. Lots of expectations, little time to rise to them. Passion Pit are great. That first album was magic. Do I like this one as much? No. However, considering their excellence and creativity as musicians, this is still a great album. I enjoyed listening to their electronic vibe, it's both beautiful and shiny. Remember, they garnered the #1 spot with Manners here.
