11. Band of Skulls - Sweet Sour
It is no surprise that this band is on this list. I listened to their last album like fifty times. I see them live every chance I get. They are a trio out of Southampton, England. Russell Marsden (guitar, vocals), Emma Richardson (bass, vocals), and Matt Hayward (drums). Live, there is an amazing contrast between Marsden's guitar and Richardon's bass. Their vocals perfectly contrast and she's about a foot taller than Marsden. This band is deeply rooted in Zeppelin and it works. Amazingly there is nothing rehashed about their dark, brooding, bluesy rock sound. Her smokey vocals lend something special to this combo that has made them a favorite of many.
